“…that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, to reach all the riches of full assurance of understanding and the knowledge of God’s mystery, which is Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. Colossians 2:2-3
National Association of Teachers of Religious Education Spirited Arts Competition 2024
We have taken part in the prestigious NATRE Spirited Arts Competition 2024. This fantastic event was an opportunity for our young artists to showcase their creativity and explore important spiritual, moral, social, and cultural themes through art.
What is the Spirited Arts Competition?
Organised by the National Association of Teachers of Religious Education (NATRE), the Spirited Arts Competition invites pupils from all over the country to create artwork that reflects their thoughts and feelings on a given theme. The competition is designed to inspire pupils to think deeply and express themselves through various artistic mediums.
Themes for 2024
| Year Group | Theme |
| 1 | Why do animals matter? |
| 2 | Why do animals matter? |
| 3 | Green faith, green future (God’s good earth) |
| 4 | Faith in humanity. No to racism, yes to respect |
| 5 | Green faith, green future (God’s good earth) |
| 6 | Why do animals matter? |
Pupils are encouraged to interpret these themes in their own unique ways, using paintings, drawings, digital art, sculpture, or any other form of visual expression.
Winning entries will provide a great response to one of the themes, and judges will be asking ‘Is it original?’ ‘Is it well-crafted?’ And (most importantly!) ‘Is it excellent RE?’
The best entries are submitted to the national competition, where they will be judged alongside submissions from pupils across the country. Winners will receive exciting prizes, and their artwork will be showcased in an online gallery, celebrating the incredible talent and creativity of young artists.
RE Pupil Day at Eyam church centre on 25th June 2024
On 25th June 2024, 12 pupils attended the RE pupil day at Eyam Church Centre. The event was led by Fiona Moss and Alison Hill from RE Today and organised by the Derby Diocesan Board of Education. It was a fantastic opportunity for pupils to get actively involved in the RE curriculum.
Pupils enjoyed a range of activities learning about different places of worship which included Churches, Mosques and Gurdwaras. During the afternoon, the children worked together to make a place of worship of their choice. Y2 children made a church and Y3 children made a Gurdwara.
Following this trip, the children involved cascaded their experiences with their peers.
