Computing

Key Stage 1

Teaches Computing lessons for up to an hour a week and one lesson a term is dedicated to E-safety. Each year group takes part in the annual ‘Safer Internet Day’.

Year 1

  • Understand what algorithms are, how they are implemented as programs on digital devices, and that programs execute by following precise and unambiguous instructions – Y1 Block Coding
  • Create and debug simple programs – Y1 Block Coding
  • Use logical reasoning to predict the behaviour of simple programs – Y1 Block Coding
  • Use technology purposefully to create, organise, store, manipulate and retrieve digital content – Paint, 2 Simple
  • Recognise common uses of information technology – Paint, 2 Simple and Google Images
  • Use technology safely and respectfully, keeping personal information private; identify where to go for help and support when they have concerns about content or contact on the internet or other online technologies – keeping safe online, following instructions safely, trust, explain and define E-safety rules, searching for appropriate images and keeping personal information safe.
